The Virginia Cardinal Care mobile app revolutionizes how nearly two million Medicaid members across the Commonwealth of Virginia choose their health plans and providers.
Created in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, the app delivers a modern, mobile-first experience that turns a historically complex enrollment process into a fast, intuitive journey.
Available in English and Spanish on iOS and Android, the app uses plain language, smart design, and geolocation tools to guide users through plan comparison, enrollment and provider selection – all tailored to their preferences. The intuitive design guides users through their plan and provider selection process. With just a few taps, members can compare health plans, enroll or change plans, find primary care providers, locate specialists, and get directions to nearby hospitals—all tailored to their preferences, including language and location.
The app’s interactive features empower users to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Its clean interface, built-in guidance, and geolocation tools make it a standout in usability and accessibility.
Since its launch in December of 2018, the app has been downloaded nearly 300,000 times and boasts stellar ratings (4.8 on Google Play, 4.7 on the App Store), with hundreds of positive reviews. One user summed it up best: “Easy to read. Simple to operate. A true time-saver!”
