About the Entry

To ensure consistency among the many content contributors and vendors for Baltimore County, we launched two comprehensive web style guides this year: a Writing Standards Guide (www.baltimorecountymd.gov/style/writing) and Design Standards Guide (www.baltimorecountymd.gov/style/design). These guides ensure that the official web standards for Baltimore County are easily accessible to their audience. The writing style guide was designed for anyone who creates content for our site, primarily our Site Executive ® content management system editors. The design guide is used by designers, developers and vendors. Each guide was developed in-house to industry best practices for web design and digital government service. In addition to improving the quality and consistency of Baltimore County’s website, these guides greatly reduce the time we invest in enforcing standards, writing requirements and revising deliverables.
