One out of every two men and one out of every three women in this country will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives. Nearly 1.6 million Americans were diagnosed with cancer just last year. It’s clear from simple statistics that cancer is a part of nearly everyone’s life story.
The significance of survivor stories drove LIVESTRONG to develop an iPad app that empowers survivors by giving them a digital tool to track their cancer journey. The LIVESTRONG Cancer Guide and Tracker App is a first-of-its-kind step toward improving the quality of survivor care and helping survivors organize the details of their diagnosis, their treatment, their responses and their individual needs.
The LIVESTRONG App gives survivors a hand-held guide to journal their story and navigate their treatment and recovery. For physicians, it helps gather and organize vital information, presenting it in a way that’s medically useful to the doctor and personally meaningful to the survivor.
In many ways the LIVESTRONG App is a “digital clinical trial,” helping individual survivors find and access the best care possible, and creating a collective cancer story that will result in a vital, living source of relevant information that may help change the cancer story of future generations.
